The 8th grade Social Studies
course covers United States history from Reconstruction through modern times. Students will use maps, charts, primary sources
and textbook readings to study the political, economic and social events that have shaped the United States. This course also
includes the study of the Illinois constitution. Students must pass the Illinois constitution test in order to graduate from
the 8th grade. Course goals are aligned with the following Illinois standards:
